One of the many reasons China has advanced so quickly is pirate DVDs. Pirates made world culture easily available and China absorbed the history of film and tv in less than two decades. This ends now, or very soon, thanks to the Olympics. But no matter, they were wasting too much plastic anyhow. Now they can get content online, for free, without as much pollution: baidu.com, soso.com, and sohu.com are their new street corners.
